February Meeting Announcement

Greetings All,

For our Tuesday, February 24th meeting we are returning to the Red Lion in downtown Bellevue. Greg Brooks will be speaking on the George F. Walker Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament.

Also the February meeting is my final meeting as the NPS Chapter President and I will be handing the ‘gavel’ over to Ben. I would like to thank everyone for their tolerance over the last few years that I have been part of the Chapter leadership. I have certainly learned a lot about the operation of a volunteer organization and while it has been a worthwhile endeavor, I can honestly say, “It isn’t easy”. It’s a lot of work and I have gotten a lot of support. So to Brian Blevins, Travis Bradley, Josh Brothers, Ryan McFarlane, Dale Simpson, Erica Morris, Ben Petersen, Tim Hollenbeck, Raj Reddi, James Ray, Bill Glassey, Lindy MacManiman, Jim Coan, Martin Paquette, Vic Banks, Mike Root, and Jon Warren, thank you for help. That’s a lot of people and I probably missed some. But that shows why it’s important for all of our members to help out where they can, a couple people can’t do it all by themselves for it to be successful. We have to help each other if we want our organization to prosper and succeed. Congratulations to our incoming Chapter Officers. Thank you for volunteering your time to the organization.

We start off 2015 with our January meeting returning to the Red Lion in downtown Bellevue. Denny DeMeyer and John Thalacker will be our Guest Speaker.  They will be speaking on the Surveyprs Historical Society 2015 Rendezvous.  Come on this eventing and hear about this event.   We will have a very ‘light’ Business Meeting following the presentation.

November Meeting Announcement

Greetings All,

Our November 25th meeting will be held at the Galliano’s in Seatac.  The main order of business is voting on our Chapter Officers for next year.  We’ll have more on that in an email that will come out early this week.  Also this week I hope to have the announcement ready to send out for our December 12th ‘Christmas Party’ meeting at Angelo’s in Bellevue.

Our General Business will include the voting and the run down on the November 8th BOT meeting.  Time permitting our speaker will be the PCL Survey Team and they will tell us about the Sound Transit South 200th Light Rail project.

October Meeting Notice

Greetings All,

Our October meeting will be held at the Red Lion in downtown Bellevue.  Neil Robicheau will be our Guest Speaker.  He will be speaking on “Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems(sUAS)”

We also want to address our openings on our Chapter’s Board for the upcoming year.   We will be voting on our Nominees at the November meeting.  The Chapter nomination committee consists of Past Presidents, Travis Bradley (chair), Tim Griffin, and Scott Edwards.  Each year we look for someone to fill the Trustee, Treasurer, and Secretary openings.  If you are interested or have anyone you would like to nominate, please contact myself or one of these gentlemen.

It’s a little late as the deadline for Surveyor of the Year nominations was Monday October 6th, but we wanted to get the Surveyor of the Year nomination guidelines out there for everyone to have for reference.  Keep it handy for next year.  Travis has also posted the SOTY and AOTY information to the Chapter website.

Associate and Surveyor of the Year Nominations

Greetings All,

As discussed in Tuesday’s Chapter Meeting, here is the information regarding the Associate of the Year Guidelines, and the Surveyor of the Year Nomination application.
The AOY Guidelines and the SOY Nomination Application will also be posted to the Chapter’s Website. The NPS Chapter selected Erica Morris as our AOY and Bob Boyd as our SOY nominations. Any individual member or associate member of the LSAW in good standing may submit nominations of a fellow member. Nominations can be sent to the LSAW Awards Committee Chair, Jim Coan at pls33647@gmail.com

September Meeting Notice

Greetings All,

Our September meeting will be held at Pogacha in Issaquah.  Igor Talpalatski of Azimetry will be our Guest Speaker.

We have a couple of deadlines coming up that we will address during the business meeting.  

 

The first thing we want to take care of is the nominations for Surveyor of the Year and Associate of the Year.  Nominations are due to the Committee on October 6th, so we want to address our chapter’s nominations at this meeting.  Please give it some thought and come to the meeting with your nominations.

Mariners Night 8-26-2014

July Meeting Announcement

Greetings,

Come join us on Tuesday, July 29th at Foster Links / BIll Baroo’s in Tukwila for our Joint Meeting with the SPS Chapter. For those that are inclined this is a wonderful opportunity to get some golf in before this year’s Walker Cup In August.

In August we will revisit another venue we haven’t been at for several years and that is Safeco Field. The Chapter is sponsoring a night out at the ole ballpark on August 26th when the Mariners will play the Texas Rangers. The currently resurgent Mariners are percentage points better than my St. Louis Cardinals and several games up on Travis Bradley’s dreaded New York Yankees. Invite your our neighboring chapters, family, and friends to this fun event. We will have more details at the next chapter meeting.

I want to thank everyone who has been sending in ideas for speakers at chapter meetings. I haven’t had a chance to respond to everyone’s suggestions but I do read each one of them and appreciate the help.

Please RSVP for July’s and August’s events, it’s makes things go so much smoother. And please everyone have a safe and fun filled July 4th weekend.

June Meeting Announcement

Greetings All,

We have a great meeting coming up with our continuing series of what the LSAW does and the volunteer opportunites are available. I have attended State Conferences in other states and the LSAW’s is without a doubt ‘the best’. So come and hear Amanda and Ben speak about putting on a Conference on Tuesday, June 24 at Pogacha in Issaquah.

In July we are revisiting Foster Links/Billy Baroo’s for our Joint Meeting with the South Puget Sound Chapter. Get some golfing in, then enjoy the fine food that Billy Baroo’s has to offer. I am working on getting a speaker so I will have a few more details at the June meeting. It will be on (the fifth) Tuesday July 29th. We look forward to seeing our friends from the SPS chapter there.
